Moroccan rhassoul for hair: how to use it properly

Rhassoul is a staple of the Moroccan hammam, but using it on hair takes a careful method to avoid dryness.

What is rhassoul?

A natural clay from the Atlas Mountains that absorbs oil and impurities without the foaming agents found in conventional shampoo.

Preparing it properly

  1. Mix 3 tablespoons of rhassoul with warm water
  2. Add a tablespoon of argan oil for dry hair
  3. Let it sit for 10 minutes to combine

Applying it

Work it into the scalp first, then the lengths, and leave for 15 minutes only. Longer than that and it starts to dry the hair out.

How often?

Once a week is enough for normal hair; every ten days for dry or colour-treated hair.

After four applications the difference in volume and scalp comfort is noticeable.
